Nearly two decades ago, Aether Cats was originally a small team of adventurers and sailors founded by Clark Cobbyn.  Sailing aboard the airship Solem Nox, the team primarily worked in the trade routes throughout Eorzea as privateers for goods such as spices, raw materials, and foods.  The Aether Cats later became known as adventurers seeking fortunes throughout Eorzea.  This expansion brought them into the world of acquiring rare artifacts and treasures for higher society clientele.  The adventurers faced constant threats of pirates and the Empire during this period.  The Aether Cats were successful in building relations with several major trade companies throughout Eorzea over their decade of adventure.  

 

Today, the original Aether Cat team has been retired, but a new chapter is beginning where Clark’s son, Thaddeus Cobbyn, has taken up the helm as captain of Solem Nox.  Thaddeus and his crew seek adventure and new lands.  Some of their adventures involve an incomplete map discovered by Clark’s team years ago, and a mystery which has remained unsolved ever since. They frequent dusty, abandoned old temples and shrines, sail into uncharted territories teeming with pirates and hellish air creatures, and investigate the supernatural in hopes to uncovering knowledge and treasure.

Aether Cats is a collection of friends and writers who’ve come together to form this fantastic airship crew. While there is an FC for some of the crew, membership is not required to be ICly involved, as the FC also serves for our larger raiding static and is not considered IC. We focus on heavy roleplay with a mix of adventure, drama, and mystery; all of the workings for a perfect treasure hunting story!

 

We are currently in the middle of a campaign that is structured with DnD-mechanics, but primarily freestyle writing with roll integrations and modifiers. Mostly, however, we encourage writers to have creative freedom within reason (no godmoding or ‘larger than life’ characters).  If rolling isn't your style, no worries! Most of our events are flexible and accommodating to those who enjoy avoiding the dice. Overall, we’re a creative bunch of writers just looking to make exciting and immersive airship stories.

 

Aether Cats is currently browsing for crew members to fill the following roles: healer/medic, gunner, able-bodied seaman/sailors, engineers/mechanics, and adventurers thirsting for a thrill. As well, we’re actively looking for any tavern, hotel, trading post, or establishment owners in need of a crew for cargo transport. Are you a mage after rare artifacts? We might be able to help with artifact acquisition. We take these ‘jobs’ and turn them into campaigns for us, so please give us your jobs and  assignment sections.
